On this episode of the podcast, we discuss "Spare the rod and spoil the child". Kids are people who need to be treated and nurtured with care. While it is important to discipline children, it is important not to be emotionally or physically abusive towards them. We discuss 4 parenting styles (authoritarian, authoritative, permissive and neglectful). In our opinion, the authoritative parenting style was much more common in the past generation. Being 80s and 90s kids, we identify more with that style. However, with the next generation of GenZ, that style might no longer work. We briefly talk about "gentle parenting" which is a more modern type of parenting that probably may work better for the upcoming generation. It is important parents/guardians adopt healthy parenting styles to prevent emotionally stunted and dysregulated adults which leads to toxic family dynamics and broken relationships.
