In this episode, Abies exposes various false teachings in the church keeping people in bondage. Her drawn out struggle with post partum anxiety & long recovery led her on a journey of deconstructing her faith to find out what was true and un-true about the Christian Faith. She talked about different doctrines some modern churches have adopted leading people astray. Most of those false teachings stem from "new thought" ideology which has some similarity to prosperity gospel. The type of Christianity that constricts Faith to material things like prosperity, wealth and riches is very shallow and doesn't reflect the depth of God's dealings with his children. We talked about different bible characters who despite experiencing severe challenges, were commended by God as being true servants. She realized during her struggles with anxiety, that God hadn't forsaken or abandoned her but through her struggles, he was doing a greater work in her to make her what he wanted her to be. Abies encourages Christians to study the bible for themselves and be very discerning of what is truth or "truth adjacent" so as not to be deceived. She advices Christians to be open and vulnerable about their struggles rather than live in pretense out of fear of judgement by fellow believers. The gospel is simple: Jesus Christ dying to redeem humanity back to God. The wrong and false teachings peddled by some pastors and ministers of the gospel need to stop because they keep people in bondage and makes them blind to the true love of God.This episode is very revelatory and is for every person of Faith, Christians or those seeking to know more about God and his word. It is important to know that regardless of what you're going through, God loves you. As a believer, the presence of challenges in your life isn't proof that God is punishing or hates you, infact it's proof that he loves you and is doing a good and quick work within you.
