When Paul says we know that all things work together for our good, it pointedly suggests that somethings will not always go as planned. Regardless of the clog in our wheels of progress, the end results would ultimately work in our favour. This doesn't in anyway support the imbalanced gospel we've sold that once we come to Christ, all our crisis ends. No! Jesus tells us, "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). Paul makes us understand that even tribulations are tools in God's superior agenda to work out something good for us. No wonder the Psalmist says, "It was good that I was afflicted" (Psa. 119: 71). The affliction was a pruning agent; the tribulation, a refining furnace! If you're discerning, you can see a pattern unfolding! So when your back is pushed against the wall, and the pain gets more excruciating or you feel abandoned by your support systems, God is in the details much more than you'd ever know. Does He take delight in seeing you suffer? Not necessarily, but the outcome of a better you brings glory to Him. He'd take the twists and puzzles of your history to weave a beautiful story with a compelling positive turnaround by simply weaponising your pain to midwife a future so distinct from your past that would be hard for anyone to reconcile both. God is in the details to make you smile again. Glory be His name forever!
