Listen "Discipline That Trains, Not Tears"
Episode Synopsis
God’s design for discipline is very different from punishment driven by anger or frustration. True biblical discipline is rooted in love, training, and guidance, meant to shape a child’s character—not break their spirit. In the story of Eli and his sons (1 Samuel 2–3), we see the painful consequences of a lack of godly discipline. Eli’s sons dishonored God, and though Eli corrected them with words, he did not take decisive action to train and redirect them. His failure led to destruction in his household and grief for the nation. On the other hand, God disciplines His children as a loving Father, shaping us for righteousness (Hebrews 12:6–11). Likewise, parents are entrusted with the holy responsibility to guide their children, correcting harmful behavior while affirming their identity and worth in Christ. Discipline should be calm, intentional, and instructive. It offers children a safe place to learn boundaries, develop obedience, and grow into maturity. When done in love, it does not tear down—it trains, restores, and builds.
