In this episode I interviewed Teisha Gillespie who shares the story of how she survived abuse and overcame shame as a blind biracial female growing up in a toxic family situation. Her mother was very emotionally, verbally and physically abusive to her and her sisters. At the age of 7 or 8 years, she was sexually abused by her uncle and her sisters also suffered sexual abuse by other family members. Teisha talks about going up biracial and why she prefers to identify herself "race-less". Teisha was born with a condition known as Retinitis pigmentosa and is legally considered blind, despite her visual impairment, she has been able to accomplish a lot, she is an accomplished digital marketing & SEO expert, a podcaster and the host of host of Not Your Average Goat (a show that celebrates all the shapes, sizes and colors of diversity as well as adversity). Teisha's goal is to dismantle the internal shame associated with any type of abuse.
