And David said to him, “Can you take me down to this troop?” So he said, “Swear to me by God that you will neither kill me ...and I will take you down to this troop.” INSPIRATION: Two other crucial themes worth emphasising on in this series today are the issues of timing and our ability to harness resources. Timing is critical to our results. For instance, a woman would need to explore her fertility timing if she must get pregnant. When you do not understand the divine timing of events, you may never seize your moment of glory. God always positions people in our lives within certain time pockets. Your failure to utilise the windows of such divine timing well, may lead to endless regrets. David sensed the timing of his discovery and the presence of the Egyptian correctly and harnessed both effectively. You cannot harness the human resources and opportunities you haven't given due recognition to. Sadly, many today, would rather exploit opportunities and milk the people providence gifts them for a short-lived benefit. That's what small minds do - milk their contacts instead of nourishing them into something more fruitful and rewarding for the future. There're great opportunities in people, although some of these people may be dressed in attires that conceal their true worth. If David had seen only a wounded and abandoned Egyptian, he would have missed the lifetime opportunity of a strategic information that aided his cause. There're opportunities, scarcely relevant information hidden in people who cross our path. Your ability to see beyond the facade of their 'ordinariness,' discern and harness these resources, will be to your greatest advantage. TODAY'S TAKE HOME: Exploitative tendencies may make you look smart on the surface with immediate temporary gains but, in the long haul, you'd have abused access and cheated yourself of a long-term mutually beneficial partnership. Discern the times and people correctly and do the right thing always. PRAYER: O Lord, please teach me how to recognise divine timing, how to positively harness the gifts of men positioned in my life at the right time, in Jesus name.
