Listen "xyzpodcast x ele mun (KLDF2022 special)"
Episode Synopsis
This series of podcasts is curated to celebrate KL Design Festival 2022, co-organized by PAM NEXT, with a theme of Resilience in Architecture. The guests were invited to share their perspectives and thoughts from different disciplines to provide a diverse understanding of being resilient in architecture and beyond. In this episode, Gary had a conversation with Ele Mun on recycled materials and how does it contribute to the circular economy within the construction industry. "What I like about Ele's provocative manifesto of London Unbuilding is the demonstration and reflection on Plan of Works - which very often, in my opinion, neglected when it comes to the demolition process and the potential to recycle existing building materials. His proposal serves as a reminder of call-for-action in an optimistic way, rather than projecting 'apocalyptic' cautionary tales, which I hope we will see in more of these directions in Malaysia to cultivate the culture of recycling our building materials. Perhaps I would see this as a promise for the current and future architects to think twice before proposing new building elements, or removing the existing building elements from a project site."
