"XYZ Podcast is back! I am glad to collaborate with One Bite Studio Hong Kong, the curators of the Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival, to kick-start this new series of podcasts. I was in Hong Kong in November and was thrilled to meet the team to discuss mutual thoughts on placemaking and architecture over local food and atmosphere. The day I recorded this episode with Alan Cheung, Co-Founder of One Bite Studio, was the official launch of the festival, and it is impressive to see the scale of the festival that has been put up to connect the islands as an art festival. After the recording, I also found an important observation about the role of an architect or designer: this provides a deeper insight into the definition of art and community. The festival runs from 15 September 2023 to 14 January 2015, covering the area of Tim Tin Tsai, Sharp Island, Kau Sai Chau and High Island, through artworks, programmes and guided tours to connect the island stories.
