For more than 15 years, the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences’ mace has led the processional at all college commencement ceremonies and even makes an appearance at other formal college ceremonies such as convocation. Listeners can learn about the history of the CALS mace from the individual who played a key role in its development, Dr. Wayne Smith. Correction: Steven Feagle is responsible for the fabrication of the mace. As you listen through, you will hear this attributed to George Hecht, who gilded the sphere which sits on top of the mace.
