Listen "Courage to leave an abusive marriage & helping women understand their bodies w/ Shelly Simonsen"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode, I am joined by Shelly Gunnar Simonsen, a podcaster, fitness and wellness coach. We talked about marriage, health, divorce, wellness and helping women understand their bodies. She shared about her previous marriage with a narcissistic ex who abused and made her doubt herself. She talked about how she got the courage to leave that 18 year abusive marriage and getting a scary diagnosis during her divorce. Her faith in God, therapy and children helped her through that difficult period of her life. She has been able to bounce back up, find true love, establish/grow her business and has been thriving since then. Upon turning 40 and experiencing hormonal changes due to perimenopause, she began to pivot her fitness and wellness career into helping women understand their bodies better especially women in their late 30s & 40s. She shared some surprising symptoms women may experience due to perimenopause and shared what type of exercises and nutrition/diet they need to be on to ensure they're able to effectively manage their symptoms. We also chatted a bit about weight loss fads/trends and what their effects could be on women. This episode is for everyone (women especially) who want to be inspired, grow and re-invent themselves and also learn how to listen to and take care of their bodies better.
