Listen "xyzpodcast x danial ismail (KLDF2022 special)"
Episode Synopsis
This series of podcasts is curated to celebrate KL Design Festival 2022, co-organized by PAM NEXT, with a theme of Resilience in Architecture. The guests were invited to share their perspectives and thoughts from different disciplines to provide a diverse understanding of being resilient in architecture and beyond. In this episode, Gary had a conversation with Danial Ismail on hyper-interiority and how does it relevant in shaping a resilient (and happy!) city. "Danial and I had a podcast recording earlier this year where he discussed in-depth interest in hyper-interiority, which entails the focus on both well-being and territorial sense - tackling dimensions of science and art in our built environment. What draws my attention to Resilience, I really enjoyed how the notion of being interior, which makes us feel belonged to a place and expand this sense of ownership and belonging in public space. We feel safe at our home, why couldn't we feel the same on the pedestrian walkway, driveway, or even outdoor park? He mentioned sick building syndrome - wonder if we have 'sick city syndrome' too? Perhaps the methodology of linking 'human as building, building as human' could be addressed as a solution by connecting the dots between anthropology and architecture."
