Trekspeak is a Star Trek Video Podcast featuring News, Reviews and Interviews on Trek Topics many and varied. The first subject is Fan Films. How do non Hollywood studios replicate the feel of Star Trek with limited resources?. Darren Interviews film makers who explain how and why they do what they do. Included in the Video entry Yorktown : A Time to Heal is the story of a fan film that was abandoned in 1987 after two years of production. The film featured George Takei as Hikaru Sulu and has gained cult status through an article in Starlog magazine at the time. The film maker Stan Woo has re-discovered the original film materials and now plans to re-master the footage as well as update the production with new scenes filmed in 2011. Overseeing the project with a Toronto production team is Producer John Atkin and the plans for the film as well as the rich backstory of the project are revealed. Included is an early look at George Takei in this film as well as production photos, designs and all new never before seen Sulu footage all in the video entry here on Itunes.
