Episode Synopsis "Satoyama: The Way of Coexistence"

The Good Land Project talks with William Dunbar of United Nations University about "satoyama". Satoyama is a Japanese term for the place between arable lowlands and mountain forests, where people traditionally lived and drew resources from both environments. More recently, the definition of satoyama has been broadened to suggest people living in equilibrium with nature - communities that draw on natural resources, but take just enough for their needs.
