In 1996 Brave New Play Rites staged Fistfight with God a drama by Kevin Chong about two passengers and their flight attendant minutes before their plane falls from the sky. Kevin Chong, then a young student in UBC's Creative Writing Program, has gone on to write six novels. His most recent: The Plague, has been featured numerous times over the past year for what some would call its prescient subject matter—a spreading pandemic in Vancouver. But in speaking with Professor Chong, The Brave New Podcast finds "The Plague" has its ties to that short play in 1996 as well.
