Episode Synopsis "Episode 14: Plastic Surgery and International Outreach"
The Surgery Interest Group at The Ohio State University College of Medicine presents Scrub Talk, a podcast series where we interview surgeons to gain insight into their field and their journey to surgery. In this episode we interview Dr. Thomas Vecchione. Dr. Vecchione is a recently retired (congratulations!) plastic surgeon based out of San Diego who went on many years of medical outreach trips to underserved communities in Mexico. We talk to him about plastic surgery, combining art with medicine, the logistics of setting up a successful international service program, and passing the torch to the next generation of plastic surgeons. A Trip to Tehuacan: https://youtu.be/LUIIU4Ybk-E Disclaimer: Scrub Talk is meant to be an informative and entertaining series for the benefit of medical students considering surgery as a potential career field. The thoughts, positions, and ideas expressed are purely those of the members of the surgery interest group and the surgeons we interview and do not represent or reflect the views of The Ohio State University College of Medicine or any affiliate hospitals.
