Episode Synopsis "Culturally Responsive Teaching"
In this podcast we'll discuss the history and challenges of culturally relevant pedagogy during the multi-pandemic of 2020 (that includes covid-19 and racial divisiveness, among other things), and offer listeners some insight into becoming more culturally relevant with hosts Alisha, Edie and Paula. During this podcast we will define cultural relevance, then discuss the challenges we face in using this pedagogy during the time of COVID and conclude with practical recommendations for the classroom. Transcript Edie - My job as teacher at Van Hise Elementary is to hold up mirrors to my fellow humans (big & small!) so they can see their colors shine. I am currently in the Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis Program at UW-Madison with the dream of becoming a strong equity leader serving our education community so we all can shine brighter--as we need to do! I am currently in the Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis Program at UW- Madison and hope to become a leader in the district.
