Listen "When Should Your Childe Be Reading?"
Episode Synopsis
Welcome to this week's episode of Enriched, where we answer one of the most common questions we hear as educators: when should my child be reading? The short answer is around 5 or 6, but there's more to it than that. Gender, home environment, school environment, and differing rates of brain development all play a role. There are three key areas of the brain required for reading, and if any of these are in any way impaired or not developed yet, your child will not be able to read fluidly. So as you can see, this question is a bit like the iceberg - you are often just seeing the tip. But, no matter where your child is in the reading continuum, there are many things you can do as a parent to facilitate your child on this incredible journey. What are they? Find out in this episode the pod…So sit back and take notes on how to support your child as he or she gets ready to read!
