Episode Synopsis

INSPIRE Devotionals With Emmanuel Afiawari Monday, April 7, 2025 Topic: LESSONS FROM THE PRODIGAL SON (Part 5)! Memory Verse: ‭‭"So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God" - Romans 14:12 KJV Bible Text:  ‭‭‭‭‭ Luke 15:13 KJV 13. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. INSPIRATION: It's puzzling and distressing to hear that no sooner than the Prodigal Son got his portion of the inheritance, he took off to a far country. One would have thought for him to have asked for this near-impossible thing, he must have done his due diligence by researching into what he planned to do. But no, his was a great misadventure lacking in substance. It was said he wasted everything in riotous living. This also underscores the fact that he had no clue of the workings of his family business that made his father so wealthy. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Prov. 22:6). Was there a proper training handed over to this young man? I'd leave you to a wild guess. But parents must do better at raising their wards by inculcating the right values and discipline into them. Proper guidance may drive away foolish decisions or peer pressure that may ruin an unguided person. Abraham guided Isaac on how to dig wells. Hence, he knew what to do when Abraham was not there anymore (Gen. 26: 18). In another instance he asked, "...Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?" (Gen. 22:7), butressing the fact Isaac had been schooled on how to offer sacrifices. Sometimes, the field may look greener on the other side of the fence, but that could be a "far country" drawing your attention. Wisdom is to look before you leap; task your brain by asking yourself very tough questions: why do I need to abandon the familiar for the unknown? What do I seek to achieve with this move and strategy to deploy? What's God will in all of these? Am I being led right or merely ambitious? What dominate culture or values do I need to change or retain in this new environment? - the Prodigal Son went from being royalty to feeding bigs and eating their food - devaluation of one's value just to fit in! TODAY'S TAKE HOME: Be inspired by the daring stories of others who, like the Prodigal Son, took the bold steps to try out life on their own terms. But avoid their pitfalls. You've waited for far too long to act (Deut. 1: 6; 2: 3)! PRAYER: Dear Lord, please deliver me from making the wrong turn in life, whether in business, career, investments, relationship or ministry. Deliver me from the arrogance of improper planning before execution of any project and help me not to lose my true identity in pursuit of vainglory, in Jesus name.
