David Nelson, Packing Lab Engineer at FedEx, has a very unique job (that many people would not know even exists!) â?? he custom designs packages and tests their durability (including drop, compression and vibration testing). Heâ??s made boxes for maple syrup and car bumpers, and put them through a rigorous testing process which involves shaking, dropping, and squishing them. He has a BS degree in packaging science and has over 30 yearsâ?? experience in the packing industry and has been working at FedExâ??s Packaging Design and Development facility in Memphis, TN for the last 22 years.
