Love + Radio’s Nick van der Kolk and Brendan Baker are in peak form here, using their now famous style to both confound the listener, further the narrative arc and, frankly, show how clever they are as producers. We can forgive them the last point – as I often do with L+R episodes that are too cute for their own good – because everything else in this piece is a wonder to experience. Nuance, anger, disgust; the listener runs the emotional gamut in this challenging, beautifully-produced profile of a morally ambiguous blackmailer.
