Episode Synopsis "Re-defining Technology in the Art Classroom : my interview with Chris Dokolasa"

In this brief interview with my (very special) high school Art teacher, Chris Dokolasa, we discuss a creative approach to what we view as "technology" in the Art classroom, ponder different ways to engage students and help Art "come alive," and share a true heart-to-heart about the true importance of teaching Art in both physical and virtual classrooms. Chris Dokolasa received her BFA frrom Eastern Illinois University in Art Education and her MA in Educational Leadership from St. Xavier University. Her teaching experience includes 7 years as a junior high Art teacher and 26 years teaching art foundation, sculpture, ceramics, design, drawing and portfolio preparation at a high school. She is currently retired and is pursuing her life-long dream of being a full-time artist, focusing mainly on funtional and sculptural ceramics. To this day, Chris remains my greatest influence and inspiration in both my pursuit of Art and ceramics as expression and (more recently) learning to embrace my own heart for teaching. The way she embodies a true, creative passion for both teaching and pursuing her own Art shines through her powerful words. It was a real honor to get to interview one of my biggest personal heroes. Thank you, Chris!
