Listen "The Oxford Group’s 6 Basic Assumptions (part 5)"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textThis episode is a continuation of the six basic assumptions of the Oxford Group, specifically, assumption number five which is: 5. The ‘Age of Miracles has returned. These lists were made at the beginning of the existence of the Oxford Group. I am not really familiar with what stage the belief in God or religion in general had gotten to at that point. This seems to have been, at least from the point of view of the Oxford Group, some sort of spiritual revival, at least in England. That be as it may, many religious leaders are speaking about a revival of, (at least), God centered thought in this modern age. People seem to be asking a lot of questions about how God fits into this new age of artificial intelligence. They are talking about how human beings are influenced by AI, or even manipulated by AI, for instance in trans-humanism. Is it just what you work for Medicare what is that what you want to know that why does it make a difference what I have a card so you don’t know what you’re talking about except what I say thanks don’t call me again by possible that, for instance, a human brain could be kept alive separate from a body. If that can happen, is it at all possible for that brain to have consciousness. Most scientists believe that consciousness is a product of the brain and our non-duelists. Other scientists believe that consciousness exists outside of the human’ s physical self. I believe the 12-step program is one of Dualism, where we see ourselves and essence as being separate from our Spirit. In any event, I think we can always say that miracles are happening. This is one of the few items in any of the lists from the Oxford Group that I do not agree with. I don’t believe the age of miracles ever ends or needs to begin again. The possibility of miracles happening as a result of our Spirit or God interacting with this earth and us, as human beings, always exists. I believe that the second and third steps certainly put us in a position to achieve greater understanding of God’s miracles, but they are not necessary for miracles to happen or exist. Once again, we arrived at at twilight zone that includes the mystical word, faith! Without faith, I believe it is difficult for us to recognize when miracles happen. After we sincerely take the second and third steps, we are naturally aware, or I should say spiritually aware of the influence God has in our lives as human beings. I know that miracles happen in this 12-step program but I do not know how to convince you of that fact. All I can say is that for me, especially after the second and third steps, miracles seem to happen. I do not believe, as a general rule, that miracles happen for those who apply these 12 steps in a psychological manner without seeking God in their lives. However, for those who follow this program in the spiritual way it was intended, can expect a miracle which is mentioned in the section of the big book about step number 10. Imagine someone who has been possessed of a life centered on some addictive behavior, who may not be able to go one day without succumbing to that addiction. Now, after using this God given life of 12 steps, they hardly ever, or never even consider or think about the problem that got them to the 12 step program in the first place. This is truly a miracle.I am including below an excerpt from research that I made on Google concerning miracles in the 12 step program. I hope it is helpful for you.In 12-Step programs, a "miracle" isn't just a supernatural event but refers to the profound, seemingly impossible transformation from addiction to recovery, often seen in the lifting of the obsession to use, spiritual growth, restored sanity, improved relationships, and the ability to live a new life through faith and the program's principles. It's the extraordinary
