Wow, episode 2 already. Time flies when you’re doing nothing all year, amiright? Today we’re kicking things off with a new weekly segment called “what sucks today” where we complain about things. Next, we’re bringing you three news stories: the Portland protest, all things Kanye, and finally #freebritney. The goal Julianne and I had in mind when creating this podcast was to keep you informed and help you get to the bottom of why you should care about what’s going on in our world. With the Portland protest in particular, we talk about how what’s happening there is a huge infringement of constitutional rights, and how that may begin happening in other cities across the US. His goal of getting on the presidential ballot is causing some uproar, especially surrounding Harriet Tubman and his daughter, North. This does go beyond politics into the issue of mental health, and how this manic episode he seems to be experiencing could actually affect our country for the next four years. We’re also covering the #freebritney moment, and how this craziness is happening not only to her, but to people all over the country, especially senior citizens. She had a court hearing yesterday, and has another one in august where we are hoping to get more answers.
