Rupertsland Institute presents Shakamohta, a student-led podcast exploring the way in which Métis people excel in a variety of fields. Today’s episode is about language. Host Samantha Hamann interviews the Dan Cardinal, vice president of the Métis Nation of Alberta, about his experience growing up with the Michif language. Our Michif phrase of the day is: ka ya kooshta ki pikiskwewin (kai-ya - koo-sh-ta - key-pick-ske-way-win) which translates to: “Don’t be afraid of your language” Tune in to the episode to find out why we chose it.
