Episode Synopsis "Communicating with Gus and How to Listen Without Your Ears"

In this episode, I take you on our (my fur babies) usual morning walk and share with you all how Gus' feelings with this pandemic. He, like most of us, can't communicate (well, he really can't communicate) exactly how we feel, so our anxieties develop within us that creates fear, anxiety- and even pseudo-symptoms of COVID-19. (This pandemic is REAL and this virus is REAL) I share with you on how being a real listener may not involve your ears, but maybe being in the present moment and allowing those feelings to be felt by both parties. Rather than getting upset and saying "C'mon, go lay down!", I paused with what I was doing, put the "busy-ness" aside and laid beside my anxious Gussy Bear. To recognize that in another being, helped me to recognize the need for self-love and self-compassion to be able to continue to show those things to others. . Dogs are pure love, and it broke my heart to feel the angst in Gus, my diva-like, super-cuddly Saint Bernard who, like all of us, just want to be SHOWN love. I use a calming scent, (FYI: Doterra Lavender is safe for dogs) talk with him (yes, I talk to my animals), and lay with him in that moment.  Thank you for allowing me to be real with you all. Fit-fully Yours, Riss (and Gus)
