Listen "The Blessing of House Chores"
Episode Synopsis
Reflection Many of us think of chores as simple tasks—cleaning, cooking, washing, tidying up—but God sees them as opportunities to build character, humility, and diligence. The everyday routines of managing a home are not mundane when done with the right heart; they become acts of worship. When Paul wrote to the Colossians, he reminded believers that whatever we do, we should do it wholeheartedly as unto the Lord. That includes the small, unnoticed tasks of daily life. In the home, teaching our children to participate in chores is more than teaching responsibility—it’s discipleship in action. It trains their hands for diligence and their hearts for service. Think of Ruth, who laboured in the fields of Boaz. Though it seemed like an ordinary act of gathering leftover grain, her diligence positioned her for divine Favor and a place in the lineage of Christ. Work done faithfully and humbly opens the door for God’s blessing. When we treat chores as sacred training grounds, we teach our families that work is worship. Every swept floor, every shared meal, every folded garment becomes a way to honour God, serve others, and prepare our hearts for bigger responsibilities.
