Episode Synopsis "My Mother at Sixty Six"

In 12th standard, we had this poem in our English textbook flamingo called ‘My Mother at Sixty Six’ by Kamala Das.I wasn’t touched by that poem back then, but when I think about it now it gives me chills. I’ll tell you why.The poet is telling about her agony to see her mother growing old and she is uncomfortable by the thought that she will not be around for a long time now.I have begun to feel anxious about my parents growing old the same way. I mean how lovely it was not to think about it when we were young and still away from all the worries. There is this unexplainable pain, a cry for a few minutes when I think about this. When I see them talk about how weak their eyes are or how the greys are occupying their scalp it feels helpless.Of course, all of us wish to reverse the time if we could but nevertheless let’s make the most out of it.It’s your call to spend more time with your parents.
