Episode Synopsis "Fifth Sunday after Epiphany (2.7.21), Mark 1.29-39"

Speaker: Rev. Phil Carder "Practicing Prayer," Mark 1.29-39 Note: At the end of today's message, Pastor Phil leads us in a brief time of "lectio divina," which is an ancient Christian way of praying while meditating on Scripture. We encourage you to engage this practice with us and in your own reading of the Bible this week. Lectio Divina- Prelude: Selecting a small portion of scripture, begin with silence. 1. Lectio: Read, paying close attention to a word or phrase. 2. Meditatio: Read a second time and meditate on what God may be speaking to you through the word or phrase. 3. Oratio: Read a third time and respond to God's speaking in some way, perhaps with a confession or commitment. 4. Contemplatio: Simply rest in silence, abiding in the presence of God. Conclusion: Lord's Prayer (or some other fitting prayer to close this time) The service today included an abbreviated form of lectio divina. In your own practice, it can last up to 10-30 minutes or more.
