The September 18th elections in Germany's capital city and city-state of Berlin proved that the far-right Alternative für Deutschland can get double digits even in the country's city with the highest amount of foreigners. Further, a continuation of the current Social-Democrat government with Angela Merkel's Christian Conservative party was rejected and , made a left wing coalition from Social Democrats together with Die Linke and the Green party.
