Episode Synopsis "Episode 1: Why become a teacher?"
Discussing the motivation of why teachers continue to teacher. This episode features a memory recall exercise. The proceedure is as follows. Richard Kopps Memory Recall exercise: Alfred Adler (1939) believed that early recollections (ERs) were projections of the present-day self onto the past. This led to the use of ERs as a projective technique for identifying lifestyle (personality) themes and unconscious goals that explain behavior. 1. Pick your earliest memory. A. Describe the scene. B. What stands out most vividly in the memory. C. What was your feelings. D. If you could change the memory in any way, what would it be? 2. Discuss your memory of the moment when you decided to become a teacher. A. Describe the scene B. What was your feelings. C. What stands out most vividly in your mind. 3. Linking the questions: (The other person answers these questions) What common themes are shared in both memories. Is there a solution present in the memories? How might the links in both memories explain your decision to enter teaching?
