Welcome to Breaking Disability the podcast! Our first guest is Paralympic Champion and Coach Louise Sauvage. It is a privilege to have Louise as our first guest and as an ambassador for Disability Sports Australia. She has been a real trailblazer for Para sport and is often regarded as the most renowned disabled sportswoman in Australia. She won nine Gold and four Silver medals at four Paralympic Games and eleven Gold and two Silver medals at three IPC Athletics World Championships. She has also won four Boston Marathons and held world records in the 1500 m, 5000 m and 4x100 m and 4x400 m relays. Because of her astonishing accomplishments, Sauvage was honoured as the Australian Female Athlete of the Year in 1999 and International Female Wheelchair Athlete of the Year in 1999 and 2000. Currently, Sauvage is a mentor, coach and works for the NSW Institute of Sport. Listen to this podcast to hear Louise talk about her life story.
