NOVEMBER 19 - Faith Over Fear3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 28:8–9; Joshua 1–2//3-Year Bible Devotional Book Available on Amazon//________________________________________“Whoever multiplies his wealth by interest and profit gathers it for him who is generous to the poor. If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.” — Proverbs 28:8–9“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9“And as soon as we heard it, our hearts melted, and there was no spirit left in any man because of you, for the Lord your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.” — Joshua 2:11________________________________________Have you ever faced something that felt way too big for you to handle—like a huge exam, a big move, or a tough conversation? In Joshua 1, Joshua is stepping into some enormous shoes—taking over for Moses and leading an entire nation into a land filled with enemies. Scary stuff. But God tells him three times in one chapter to “be strong and courageous.” Why? Because Joshua wasn’t doing it alone. In Joshua 2, even Rahab, a woman from Jericho, believed that Israel's God was powerful—and because of her faith, she risked everything to help God’s people. And over in Proverbs 28, we’re reminded that true strength and blessing come from living wisely and walking closely with God—not from taking shortcuts or ignoring His Word. All of this points to one truth: when you listen to God and trust Him, He gives you the courage to do hard things.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Courage Comes from God: Joshua wasn’t told to be fearless on his own—God said, “I am with you.” Are you relying on God’s strength when you're afraid?2. Faith Can Come from Unexpected Places: Rahab wasn’t an Israelite, but she believed in God more than many of His own people. What does her story show you about God’s grace and your own potential to make a difference?3. Listening to God Matters: Proverbs says if we ignore God’s Word, even our prayers can be affected. How can you stay tuned in to what God is saying through Scripture?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEReal courage doesn’t mean you’re never scared—it means you trust God more than your fear.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for being with me in every situation, no matter how overwhelming it feels. Help me to listen to Your Word and trust You like Joshua and Rahab did. Give me the strength to be courageous and to live boldly for You today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
