DECEMBER 3 - The Kind of King We Need3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 29:4–5; Psalm 110; Genesis 14:8–20; Hebrews 7–8:2//3-Year Bible Devotional Book Available on Amazon//________________________________________“By justice a king builds up the land, but he who exacts gifts tears it down.” —Proverbs 29:4“The LORD says to my Lord: ‘Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.’” —Psalm 110:1“And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.)” —Genesis 14:18“He is without father or mother or genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life… but resembling the Son of God he continues a priest forever.” —Hebrews 7:3________________________________________We live in a world full of leaders—some good, some… not so much. Maybe you've seen people in power make selfish decisions or use others to get ahead. It's frustrating, especially when you want to believe someone will do what's right. In Proverbs 29:4, we’re reminded that true leadership is built on justice, not on greed.Psalm 110 talks about a different kind of king—one who rules with God's authority and doesn't abuse power. And then, there's this guy Melchizedek in Genesis 14, a king and priest who blesses Abraham and points forward to Jesus. In Hebrews 7, the writer shows how Jesus is a forever kind of priest and king—righteous, holy, and never changing. That’s the kind of leader we actually need.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Justice Over Power: How do you respond when you see unfairness or selfish leadership around you? Are you seeking to build others up with your actions like the just king in Proverbs?2. Jesus is Better: Hebrews tells us Jesus is both king and priest. That means He rules with authority and speaks to God on your behalf. How does it change your view of Jesus knowing He always stands for you?3. Kingdom Living: If Jesus is your King, how should that affect your choices—at school, with friends, or online? Are you following His lead in how you treat others?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEThe world offers flawed leaders, but Jesus is the perfect King and Priest who reigns with justice, mercy, and forever love. He’s the one you can fully trust.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for giving us Jesus, the perfect King who rules with justice and love. Help me to follow His example in how I live, lead, and love others. Remind me that He always intercedes for me, even when I mess up. I want to live in a way that honors Him. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
