The vibration behavior of a resonant system can be modified dramatically by the additional of one or more relatively small resonant substructures. The simplest example is a tuned mass damper, in which a single small element is added with a resonant frequency tuned to match that of the primary system. We consider the case of multiple elements added with prescribed distributions of properties (mass, stiffness, damping) to achieve a variety of effects in frequency or time domain. ...
