Episode Synopsis "5 Years of Swachh Bharat"

The Swachh Bharat Mission is the Government of India's flagship sanitation programme launched in 2014. It has aimed to eradicate the practice of open defecation by 2019, and in five years, the SBM has constructed over 10 crore toilets with 38 toilets built per minute. While the SBM has led to an unprecedented rise in the access to individual household toilets, are people using them? This podcast unpacks the usage challenge, and how the programme's larger goal of safe sanitation for health and well-being remains.
