written + spoken by Hannah, host of ThoughtsOutloud.live, follow on Instagram + Tik Tok. ~~~ INTEGRATE i kept silent cause I couldn't find the words publicly, until i put my thumbs to the screen, i typed furiously. do I need to cover my face with makeup? a little contouring and blush to pretend that the pure whiteness of my skin doesn't have privilege leaking all out of me. images of me in 3D, are starting to form from the analog me. finding a place where my heart can run wild, grounded in curiosity. a slowing of life, a life made simpler, in the bare nakedness of me. it's no longer about rejecting the forgotten pieces of me ...where i've hidden, played small and failed too many times to believe. i became a prof at putting that smile on my face, then covid hit to uncover all the disgrace. and as i come up to breath again, the messiness of that place belongs back within me, with all of its sin. because when the darkness and light can live side by side, they'll integrate together and we will witness a beautiful sunrise. ~~~ If you have spoken word that you would like to share in audio format on this podcast, contact us.
