Listen "Are You The One?"
Episode Synopsis
This morning we continue in our study through the gospel according to Matthew as we consider Matthew 11:1-19. John the Baptist sends his disciples to Jesus to ask him, "Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?" Jesus responds to those disciples by quoting Scripture and talking about John the Baptist. He concludes by describing his generation in how they've criticized both John and Jesus. In the story we see the following:1) What do we do with doubts and questions? 2) How does Jesus handle doubts and questions? 3) How do we live in light of what Jesus says and does? We can trust that Jesus is the one because of his deeds and works. We see his miracles and read of his work in the eye-witness testimony of his disciples. Ultimately, Jesus proved his claims and identity in his death and resurrection. Jesus didn't come to conform to the expectations of others, rather he lived, died, and rose again that his disciples would be conformed to his image.
