Listen "The Wedding Feast of the King"
Episode Synopsis
This morning we continue in our study through the gospel according to Matthew as we consider Matthew 22:1-14. Jesus teaches another parable about how those initially invited are replaced by a surprising group of people. The first will be last and while many are called, few are chosen. The parable could be grouped into the following four parts:1) The Invitation Offered (vv 1-4)2) The Invitation Rejected and Judgment (vv5-7)3) The bad and good gathered, the invitation extended (vv 8-10)4) The one not dressed in a wedding garment cast out (vv 11-14)The feast represents the fullness of joy in union and communion with God. It signifies enjoying fellowship, relationship, and friendship with God in the kingdom of heaven. Awe, wonder, and joy is to mark true followers of Jesus not grumpy, gloomy, indifference. We can savor the feast of fellowship with God and joy of being united to the Son. We pray God would give us grace to serve as we go therefore and invite to the wedding feast as many as we find.
