Rabbi Zadok Hakohen of Lublin (1823–1900) was blessed with a vibrant internal life. Through introspection he developed a dynamic view of human psychology. R. Zadok Hacohen, an accomplished ‘Litvishe Rav’, upon meeting Rabbi Mordechai Yosef of Ishbitz became his devoted disciple. He recorded his personal reflections in Zidkat Hazadik. We will study selections which illuminate spiritual growth. Based on his teachings we will grapple with the role of desire and imagination and the tension between the head and the heart and the nature of consciousness in bringing about our perfection.
