Listen "When to Keep Your Mouth Shut (2014)"
Episode Synopsis
Laconic means to be of few words. As a Christian, you should be laconic when talking about other people. But when talking about the Lord Jesus Christ you should always be ready! Keep your mouth shut when you are angry. “A short-tempered person acts stupidly and a person who plots evil is hated” (Prov 14:17). Be quiet when you’re tempted to tell a lie or twist the truth. “Everything I say is fair and there is nothing twisted or crooked in it” (Prov 8:8). Don’t try to straighten out a fool. “Do not warn a mocker or he will hate you. Warn a wise person and he will love you. Give advice to a wise person and he will become even wiser” (Prov 9:8). Be quiet when you’re tempted to speak without knowing all the facts. “Those who are wise store up knowledge but the mouth of a stubborn fool invites ruin” (Prov 10:14). Learn to listen and not talk. Other times you should keep your mouth shut: when you don’t know all the facts; when you’re tempted to say more than you should or pervert the truth; if you’ve got a quick temper; if you’re tempted to malign your neighbor or say hurtful things. Be laconic!
