Episode Synopsis

Richard Hewson has orchestrated for artists and bands including Paul McCartney, The Beatles, Diana Ross, a James Bond movie theme, Supertramp and Art Garfunkel. With one piano and as he describes it, an ancient four track, in 1977 he created top 10 international cult hit, THE CRUNCH which he wrote, produced and played as The Rah Band, an excuse he says; "Just to do my own tunes." This is the story of Richard Hewson.
Coming up in part 3, Richard moves from arranging to producing his own material. Hiring a four track, he makes his first attempt at a pop record. The Crunch goes on to become a club hit, making number 6 in the UK Top 40. He describes the jazz funk era, writing lyrics and his regrets about the biggest pop video of his career.
