Episode Synopsis "Episode 1: Comenius"

Thanks for checking this out! This first episode focuses on one of the earliest names in comparative education- Jan Amos Comenius, also know as Komensky. One of the first people to popularize the idea of using pictures in textbooks, teaching students in their L1 or mother tongue, and promoting education for all- all back in the early 1600s! For more information, see the UNESCO special issue on Comenius here: https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED079212.pdf Make sure to take a look at Piaget's (yes, that Piaget) chapter on Comenius for an idea of just how important a figure Comenius was and is.
