Episode Synopsis "Margaret Mathieson Fife"
Perhaps the rugged difficult country of Scotland helped prepare Margaret Mathieson Fife for the difficult journey that would be her life. She was a strong, courageous mother, wife and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Say Saints. She was baptized by Orson Pratt, immigrated to Nauvoo (made it through a hurricane on the Hanover Ship 1842) met Joseph Smith and received her temple initiatory and endowment there. In 1846 she was forced to leave by an angry mob of 250 men. She braved the west with her young family of 8 kids in an ox-drawn wagon. She suffered much but continued on keeping everyone in her care alive. Arrived in Salt Lake City in 1850. Built the first log cabin where church services would be held on Cache Valley. Was very involved in the first Dramatic Company in Providence. She passed away of old age at 82 years old. She kept a candle every day by her window believing her oldest son would find his way home. I can’t wait to meet her some day and hear more of her stories.
