Realistically speaking, HR protects businesses, which is okay. But improving the lives of people will help the organization tremendously. There will be more productivity, fewer lawsuits, reduced wasteful spending in hiring and firing, and other legal HR-related dramas. Let's drop all theatricals and invest in people. A CEO is only as good as his janitor, and if both can't sit at the same table to eat lunch, then there is a problem. When you depart this world, your money, fame, and title will not go with you, so do what's humanely and ethically practical, and do it with integrity.
