Listen "Justice - Leeds' history of Activism and Non-Conformity"
Episode Synopsis
DID YOU KNOW LEEDS HAS A STRONG HISTORY OF ACTIVISM AND NON-CONFORMITY?
In this episode of the Leeds Sanctuary podcast, we're joined by "walking time capsule", local historian and artist Clifford Stead, who has a real passion for Leeds and it's history. He shares with us some of his learning about John Marshall, Victorian mill-owner; Leonora Cohen, suffragette; the anti-slavery movement in Leeds, and more. This was a really fascinating conversation which took place following an even we ran during the Heritage Open Days Festival 2024, and has inspired three Sketch Walks which we will be running in the coming months.
