Episode Synopsis "The Workplace Gender and How Equality Can Close It"

For quite some time now, there’s been a notable increase of female integration in the workforce. More women are pursuing higher education globally. The rise of feminism and numerous female empowerment campaigns are, namely, a few to be credited for women’s increased professional participation. Women nowadays have greater opportunity to gain economic independence as compared to their predecessors who are more often bound by traditional gender roles.Yet despite such milestones the modern society has achieved, there are still pertaining arguments on how women still face inequality, especially in the workforce. Numerous studies have shown the gender gap between men and women at work. From wage gaps to structural barriers in achieving higher managerial positions, women are still viewed as marginalized in the workfield. Further statistics have shown that women are often limited to occupying support staff roles, and only a few of them actually hold a significant position in their professional work life. Furthermore, several studies have also shown disruption to their Work-Life Balance due to the “double role” that they have to play, including both professional and household responsibilities, which may hinder their career progress. This Leadership in Public Sector course project intends to host a podcast to unveil the reality of this ongoing argument. Is gender gap an actual pertaining issue amidst professionalism that affects working women or is there more to it? We hope that our podcast could provide insights and shed some light on this issue through the lens of working women from different position levels.
