Episode Synopsis "Episode 001 // "I Gave Up Caring ..." // Lanni Marchant, marathoner and Olympian"
Putting health issues behind her, and with Tokyo 2020 in her sights, we ask: what drives Canada's fastest woman in the marathon to get better, stronger, faster? Lanni Marchant is the Canadian female record holder in the marathon and half marathon. She has won multiple national 10k championships, and a Pan Am Games bronze medal. She competed in two events at Rio 2016, the 10,000m finals and marathon. In recent months, health problems have made training at an elite level difficult for Lanni. There has also been a lot of flack for the way Lanni has been portrayed in the media, and for her comments on gender and body image. While she gets back to full training after kidney surgery... and a "post-Olympic slump"... we sat down to talk about motivation.
