Listen "When Life Feels Empty | Ruth: Finding God in the Ordinary"
Episode Synopsis
When life feels like it’s falling apart, it can be easy to believe that God has disappeared. That’s how Naomi felt in the opening chapter of Ruth — she had lost her husband, her sons, and her sense of direction. Yet even in her emptiness, God was quietly working. In Ruth 1, we meet two women—Naomi and Ruth—who walk through loss, loyalty, and the first signs of hope. Naomi feels abandoned by God, yet Ruth’s faithfulness becomes a reflection of God’s own steadfast love. By the end of the chapter, as the two women return to Bethlehem, we’re told it’s the beginning of the harvest. Even in the pain, God is preparing renewal. This story reminds us that God often uses seasons of emptiness to lead us back to His fullness. He doesn’t always speak through dramatic miracles or visible signs. Sometimes, He works quietly—through relationships, through faithfulness, and through the courage to take one small step of obedience at a time.If you’re walking through loss or uncertainty, take heart. God’s silence is not His absence. Like Ruth and Naomi, you may just be on the edge of a new harvest you can’t yet see.Join us at Friends Church Sacramento this Sunday as we continue exploring how God brings redemption out of the ordinary moments of life.
