His expertise as both a building scientist and a 'building biologist' has led him to work with hundreds of faith community buildings to create sustainability plans to reduce energy and environmental impact.This episode features Gerry Zegerius, a structural engineer and senior associate at Tacoma Engineers Inc. Throughout his career, Gerry has assessed, analysed and restored many prominent heritage structures, ranging in size from small cottages to prominent National Historic Sites of Canada. Gerry is also an active member of CAHP, he previously held a seat on the Board, served on CAHP’s Conference Committee and was a member of the executive. In his personal life, Gerry enjoys time at the ice rink, the baseball diamond, and in the woods. He is a proud husband and a father of three, and he loves to learn about the stories of places, buildings and people that make up the context of his work.The Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) is a national membership-based organization that serves qualified heritage professionals in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. CAHP establishes standards of practice, shares knowledge about heritage conservation, and supports the involvement of heritage professionals whenever places of heritage value are being identified, preserved, restored and rehabilitated.
