Wall Street is a street in New York where the Stock Exchange and important banks are. Often used to refer to the financial business carried out there and to the people who work there. For many decades we have been taught about Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange, but many have never even heard of Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma. But why do you think that is the case? The dismantling of one of the most powerful institutions in our history, "Black Wall Street" and the resilience of a people to preserve our rich legacy is the true demise of wealth & power. Black Wall Street can be attributed to two prominent black entrepreneurs, O.W. Gurley & J.B. Stradford. Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Greenwood District, known as Black Wall Street, was one of the most prosperous African-American communities in the United States. Today we discuss some of the history of Black Wall Street & the importance of the Black Dollar.
